No images / album art shown on different media players

hejhej!
sorry if there ́s already a solution for this, but couldn ́t find a thread resolving this...

problem is that there is neither album art nor pictures shown on any media player if streaming media from my zyxel nsa310. twonky version is 7.0.9 preinstalled. (if streaming from my win7 pc everything works fine)

tested on teac ag-d500 (onkyo tx-nr515), teac/onkyo android app, golden media gm990 sat, lg bd660 blu ray player.

any mp3 album contains a Folder.jpg, some folders have additional pictures and some mp3 has album art embedded... but any of this is working...

using the twonky browser frontend of my nas on my pc all folders are displaying the album art. so twonky is recognizing em but not streaming as it seems.

working:

not working (by folder):

like it should be on my android/onkyo app. but it is not working for me...

thanks a lot!

Debian/Ubuntu package on Launchpad

Hi,

after x years of using this great software I'm very frustrated about the twonky support. Since PacketVideo has the steering wheel, the support went into a very bad "windows" (e.g. Manager) direction. A good example is that no deb (or rpm) package for twonky exists?!? The objective to support small NAS devices is pushed more and more into the background. The NAS support is worst!

So I threw out my small debianized qnap armel device and bought a AMD E2-2000 in order to use it as an AMD64 Ubuntu Server. In this case, I created a twonkyserver (deb) installer for i386 and amd64, which can be used on debian or ubuntu:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:moonmaker/twonkyserver
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install twonkyserver

After the installation you have to set "run=yes" in "/etc/default/twonkyserver". In order to start the daemon you have to type: "sudo service twonkyserver start". All data will be saved to /var/lib/twonky

This package is managing the twonky installation and deinstallation. Have phun!

I have a My Book Live HDD. Twonky server by default was 5.1.9.
I used this guide to upgrade it, http://community.twonky.com/twonky/to.... It worked with the 7.0.12 version for some months. But it stopped working. I tried to downgrade and upgrade again but nothing. Please advise asap... The firmware for the hdd is build 02.42.03-027 : Core F/W.

custom navigation-tree changed in twonky server 7.2.3?

Hi fellows,

I used to sort my mp3 files in a custom navigation-tree with subfolders per initial letter of the artist name, and so on. Up to version 7.2.0, something like ...container buildon='upnp:artist[1]'... did the trick.

Now with 7.2.3 this does not work anymore, any number smaller than 3 inside the brackets leads to empty pages in the web-interface (and on dlna clients).
If I set it to 3 as in upnp:artist[3] or larger it works, but the lists grow soooo long then..

Anyone seen the same issue and/or having a solution for this?
I'd like to have my "one subfolder per letter" back...

Best regards,

brigel

I have just installed TwonkyMedia 6.0.34 into a compatible Nas device based in Linux (a Qnap NAS). In web interface of TwonkyMedia, I see the music tracks under folder 'Directory' appearing in alphabetical order, BUT these tracks are titled beggining with numbers, not by letters!! Result: Twonky disorder my music tracks!!

Curiously, it doesn't occur under folder 'Albums', by exemple. There, the tracks appear ordered considering numbers. If someone have some dubt, i'll add, it is Twonkt that disorder them, not the NAS...

Problem? Yes, because my sistem of numbering and title the hundreds and thousands of tracks makes me prefer to use folder 'Directory' over all the other ones. So, someone could help me, please?

thx

upon trying to install:

chuck@sepang:~/opt/twonky$ ./twonky-i386-glibc-2.2.5-special-7.0.7.sh
bash: ./twonky-i386-glibc-2.2.5-special-7.0.7.sh: /bin/bash^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

Why does the script have these escape characters in it that prevent it from running?

When running it directly with bash:

chuck@sepang:~/opt/twonky$ bash twonky-i386-glibc-2.2.5-special-7.0.7.sh

Panasonic TC-P55UT50 sort items by title and not date client profile tweak

We recently purchased a Panasonic TC-P55UT50
It is currenlty running the latest firmware which is 1.230

This tv was NOT purchased for its dlna capabilities in any way
those abilities were just a bonus, price and picture quality were the criteria
But you know me, I had to see what it would and would not do with Twonky

One of the things I noticed was that the dlna client was honoring only some sorting

It would honor the container sorting criteria presented by twonky
meaning that the list of containers were shown in the order I wanted

It would honor the item order when viewing a playlist
meaning that the order in wich I have my items in a WPL are honored

It would NOT honor a default sort order of items in a container
meaning that the default sort order is alphanumeric
and the Panasonic TC-P55UT50 was sorting by date oldest to newest

NOTE:
The Panasonic TC-P55UT50 does NOT have any options to change sorting
so we are forced to do that at the server,
and are relying on the Panasonic TC-P55UT50 to honor what the server says
and not what the Panasonic TC-P55UT50 wants (which is by date)
luckily the following does allow for us to do that

If you edit the Panasonic_VIERA.xml
and add the following Quirk, save the file, restart the server
The Panasonic TC-P55UT50 will now honor sort orders
that are presented to it from Twonky Server

<DeviceQuirks>
<Quirk>IGNORESORT</Quirk>
</DeviceQuirks>

Thumbnail generation not working with Twonky Server 7.2 and 7.2.1

Embedded thumbnails are working
But ones that do not have a thumbnail are not getting a transcoded version
I couldn't help but notice that this version of twonky came with ffmpeg.exe
Which is a great leap forward, also noticed some other tools in the cg-bin
I attempted to use logging, but couldn't logging working right, different issue
I tried replacing ffmpeg.exe with one I know that does work
for generating thumbs, but that didn't work out either
after some additional tinkering, its almost looks like transcoding isn't being invoked
hard to say as I couldn't get logging working

Twonky Server 7.2.1 NAS builds are now available

How to downgrade TwonkyMedia server on a Qnap

How can I downgrade 7.2.51.0 to the previous version on my QNAP 419p?
Since I updated the app my streaming movies on my WDTV player keep "losing" Twonky during playback and saying "Problem with network device".

Can I please have the previous version as a QKPG package so that I can manually re-install that one and test if it still happens? thanks Richard

No library on Twonky 7.2.5-1 webinterface (LAN ACCESS)

Hey Community :)

I Installed Twonkymedia 7.2.5-1 on my qnap NAS via QPKG file and first of all all working fine on other devices like TV (also thumbnailing).
yesterday I tested to get access on my library through the "normal" twonky webinterface (only internal access via LAN).

I went to "http://NAS-IP:9000" and tipped in my username and so on...
Then I see the Preferences page on Twonky, here anything is fine, but If I want to see photos or so on, the hole page is empty.
The same issue on videos and music all pages are empty (Preferences excluded)...

Can somebody helping out ?

Hello,

I've installed Twonkey 7.2.5-1 on my QNAP TS419+. However The subtitles are not transcoded to my PS3. The subs are in the same folder as the *.MP4 and have exactly the same name.

Previously I used PSM which worked like a charm.

Do you know how I can enable the subs?

Thanks,
Wim

What versions to use on My Book World & My Book Live Duo?

Looking to upgrade a My Book World to Twonky 7, and to install Twonky 7 to a My Book Live Duo.

Have become totally confused and lost in a sea of different versions and guides. Not sure if I should be using a "special" version or the latest version, and there seems to be a lot of conflicting information on just what the latest version of Twonky even is. (7.2.1? 7.2.5? 7.2.5-1?)

Could someone please recommend what version to use for upgrading My Book World, and My Book Live Duo, and also if existing guides will work, if I just substitute the versions?

Hi there!

My server (7.0.9) froze after trying to restart it and after I haven't been able to access it anymore.. I tried to stop and start the server - no luck - and after I tried to reinstall the server.. but trying that, this is the message it shows me:

MyBookLive:~# /etc/init.d/twonky stop
PID file /var/run/mediaserver.pid not found, stopping server anyway...
twonkymedia: no process killed

MyBookLive:~# cd /usr/local/
MyBookLive:/usr/local# mv twonkymedia-5 twonkymedia-7.0.9
mv: overwrite `twonkymedia-7.0.9/twonkymedia-5'?

Can someone help me with this problem?
Thanks so much!
Luis

Disable thumbnail cover icon in Genre/Album view

Hi,
I've upgraded Twonky Server from version 7.09 to 7.2.5-1 on my QNAP 119P II.
So far my BubbleUPnP control point showed "neutral" folder icons in the Genre/Album view. With the new Twonky version the cover of the 1st Album (alphabetic order) is shown per Genre. This new "feature" is not really meaningful, at least for classical music. Any possibility to show just folder icons again?

N.B: I'm still missing the possibility to navigate by COMPOSER/Album

Twonky can't serve videos to Sony BDV-E370.

Twonky can't serve videos to SONY BDV-E370.

I have a home network with multiple DLNA clients: Three Blu-Ray DVD Players, a PS3, multiple laptops, tablets, etc. All were served by an HTPC running Serviio. I recently changed the HTPC to a WD MyCloud running Twonky v7.2.3. The WD MyCloud serves the movies up to all my clients just fine except a SONY BDV-E370. For some reason it won't serve any video files to that machine. It plays music on the Sony just fine, views photos just fine, but when I try to go to Video, it says "No Playable Files", no matter what I select. I have a variety of media files - .mp4, .avi, .mkv, you'd think it would show *something*, but I can't even *view* any of the media files, much less play them. The Sony worked fine under Serviio, what's wrong with Twonky?

Where can I get twonky server 7.1.2 for linux? The current version does not work correctly.
