Sort TV Shows by Season and then Episode

Hi guys,
probably this has been asked before, but I spent hours on google now and could not find any solution.

I am using a twonky server (Twonky 7.0.8 Special) on my D-Link DNS 323 NAS storage.

Mostly I am using this to watch my (quite large) collection of TV shows. I named the files like

[Show Name] - [Season]x[Episode] - [Episode Name]

All shows are in MP4-Format.

Without having iDentify (some Mac software) fill in the tags, the file name applied for display and sorting.
Now it takes just the episode name for *both*!

The effect is easy to imagine.

01x01 - Zoo
02x06 - Bear
04x01 - Ape

now becomes

Ape
Bear
Zoo

This messes up the order series are played of course.

As a software developer I did not hesitate to edit the view-definitions.xml (most users will!).

I added the attribute "sortcriteria='+upnp:originalTrackNumber'" so now it at least sorts by episode number.

However that only solves a part of the problem.

01x01 - Melissa
01x02 - Jane
02x01 - Anita

becomes

01 - Anita
01 - Melissa
02 - Jane

I really want to sort (and if anyhow possible display) my videos the way I named the files!

Is there a list of tags that can be used?

Really, this is everything but user-friendly!

Basic Issues with Twonky

Hi,
I've given up on Twonky:
- No Manual
- No ability to allow guests but also protect Settings with a password
- Problems with mp4 subtitles

I am not prepared to continue to wade through tons of community support postings on such basic matters.
There are plenty of Open Source alternatives

Debian/Ubuntu package on Launchpad

Hi,

after x years of using this great software I'm very frustrated about the twonky support. Since PacketVideo has the steering wheel, the support went into a very bad "windows" (e.g. Manager) direction. A good example is that no deb (or rpm) package for twonky exists?!? The objective to support small NAS devices is pushed more and more into the background. The NAS support is worst!

So I threw out my small debianized qnap armel device and bought a AMD E2-2000 in order to use it as an AMD64 Ubuntu Server. In this case, I created a twonkyserver (deb) installer for i386 and amd64, which can be used on debian or ubuntu:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:moonmaker/twonkyserver
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install twonkyserver

After the installation you have to set "run=yes" in "/etc/default/twonkyserver". In order to start the daemon you have to type: "sudo service twonkyserver start". All data will be saved to /var/lib/twonky

This package is managing the twonky installation and deinstallation. Have phun!

Hello,

I install twonky server at an arm with debian wheezy with the install instructions. Also I take a look in the internet and the most say the same. But when I will start twonky I get the error message:

root@arm:/usr/local/twonky# /usr/local/twonky/twonky.sh start
Starting /usr/local/twonky/twonkystarter ... /usr/local/twonky/twonky.sh: 176: /usr/local/twonky/twonky.sh: /usr/local/twonky/twonkystarter: not found

The files are there and some days ago before I reinstall my arm twonky was running fine.

Is there somebody who can give me the correct instructions to isntall it step by step?

Thanks a lot, Ralf

Hello! How do I restore my purchase? Activation code was lost.

WD tv play disconnects from Twonky after about 30 minutes

Hi

There seem to be a few reports of related problems, but no specific advice for my setup. I have Twonky server 7.0.11 running on a D-Link DNS320 NAS, and I connect a WD Play TV to it via a Linksys router. After about 30 minutes the WDTV disconnects from the DLNA server, and will only reconnect if I restart its network connection.

I have seen some suggested solutions for other DLNA servers (http://community.wd.com/t5/ideas/v1/i...) but could not find any help for Twonky.

Any suggestions?

cheers - Barry

Bug in browse.js when running on port 80 (with patch!)

You can't browse media via the web interface if the Twonky server is mapped to port 80. It comes up empty, because of a bug I've found.

In browse.js, around lines 1212-1215 at the start of the httpGet function, there is a statement:

var i = urlin.indexOf(":", 5),
url = '';

if (i < 1) {

This is looking for the port number section of the URL. Unfortunately when running on port 80, this is implied and therefore missing. It all works fun up until the point where the query string part of the URL contains a colon, which it does later in the process.

I've fixed it by simply checking if the colon we found is beyond the first forward slash (/) after the "http://" part.

To make the patch, replace:

if (i < 1) {

with this:

var j = urlin.indexOf("/", 7);

if (i < 1 || i > j) {

Hopefully this helps someone else!

Issues with Twonky Startup Content Scan

There is currently now way to disable and or delay to starup scanning

You know the behavior that people think that twonky is rebuilding the DB
Im talking about it rescanning on start up

On low performance nas devices and or large media collections
This process can take a very very very long time

I am aware of scantime= and it's purpose
and that it is not related to this issue

What we need is a new setting for ex: startupscan=
So we can disable or enable that behavior/feature

I on one hand I think I know why twonky is doing this,
but on the other I am not so sure that it is needed

Why not make it a choice, with known ramifications if any?

Web access to Twonky from a Web Browser on TV/Console/Etc.

In doing some of my tinkering, I pondered the thought of seeing
what the PS3 would do, when I used the builtin web browser
to view the Web Interface would like look
and would it work

And what do you know, it sure as hell did
Both 6.x and 7.x worked

My point is, it would interesting to see if this is a viable options for tv's
with those built in web browsers

Just a thought

TwonkyServer default sorting behavior

I have just installed TwonkyMedia 6.0.34 into a compatible Nas device based in Linux (a Qnap NAS). In web interface of TwonkyMedia, I see the music tracks under folder 'Directory' appearing in alphabetical order, BUT these tracks are titled beggining with numbers, not by letters!! Result: Twonky disorder my music tracks!!

Curiously, it doesn't occur under folder 'Albums', by exemple. There, the tracks appear ordered considering numbers. If someone have some dubt, i'll add, it is Twonkt that disorder them, not the NAS...

Problem? Yes, because my sistem of numbering and title the hundreds and thousands of tracks makes me prefer to use folder 'Directory' over all the other ones. So, someone could help me, please?

thx

OGG Vorbis Stream to ONKYO with Twonky 7.2.6.2

The ONKYO Receiver TX-NR 807 play OGG-Vorbis files out of the box!
I stream OGG files to this ONKYO Receiver from a WD TV Live Hub with Twonky Version 5.1.9 and before with a Raidsonic ICYBOX with Twonky 4.
The Onkyo is listed as 'Generic Media Receiver' in the device list.
This works fine. The ONKYO Receiver display the right file type "OGG Vorbis".

With a new QNAP TS 221 and Twonky 7.2.6.2 i can ́t stream the same files to the ONKYO Receiver. The Receiver display as file type "PCM" and say "File Type not supportet" and skip the file. The Onkyo is listed as 'ONKYO' in the device list.

I find the Thread "Audio Transcoding and Profiles" and have make this changes on the Onkyo.xml file without success.
I change the device type to "Generic Media Receiver" without success.

Now i downgrade the Twonky on the QNAP to Version 7.0.9 and the playing of OGGs works fine.

Has the Version after 7.0 a Bug?

Disable automatic thumbnails creation

Hi,
I have a question about how the automatic thumbnail creation works.
My device is a "WD My Personal Cloud" which I use together with a Samsung SmartTV over WiFi. Everything works good, quite simple navigating thru folders, pick a vid and hit play, even FFD, Skip, REV works (not great but suitable).

So, my problem is mainly when watching episodes of a series, that I dont know what I already saw. All thumbnails are ceated and it looks like I saw every episode.
When using an external USB-HDD on my TV thumbnails were only created fo episodes I watched.

So, my question is:
Is it possible to "patch" the WD My Cloud Twonky Server that the thumbnails are only created after playing a movie (so that it acts same as when using my tv with an external HDD)?

Thanks for any suggestions.

video/quicktime transcoding error

Hi to all of you.
I used previous Twonky from QKPG and everything worked fine.
I upgraded to 7.2.7 (last one) today, and I saw that I cannot see all the videos already uploaded to qnap from iphone or ipad. Qnap classifies them as type ‘video/quicktime’ Twonky says 'File not currently supported'.
Obviously if I connect usb key to tv (a samsung) and play the same file I can see it properly.
To see a movie from the Twonky I have to re-encode it to mp4, and the Twonky is able to show it.
I think it should be a transcoding issue for 7.2.7 twonky release; it shows fine mpeg (mp4) but does not know how to encode video/quicktime.
Do you have other ideas or advice?

Streaming order / sequence of photos by date

Hi all,

I'm using an older version of twonky (4.x) that is installed on my NAS (DLink 323). When I'm watching photos that are located within one folder they get always streamed in order of their names (e.g. DSC0001 ist first picture, P102587 ist last picture --> alphabetically ). How can I achieve that they are streamed in order of their timestamp they were taken?

Thanks in advance,

Thorben

TwonkyServer on ubuntu 12.04

Hi, I have recently purchased a licence for TwonkyServer and im trying to install it on ubuntu 12.04. It appears to install but then i am unable to browse to it using a browser.

I am a linus newbie so any advice on how to confirm the install and that the server is running would be greatly appreciated.

.ts file with AVC doesn't show anymore on Bravia TV after upgrade from 6.0.39 to 7.2.7, MPEG2 .ts files work perfectly!

Hi,

I use a QNAP TS-421 with QTS 4.0 (linux 2.6.33.2 armv5tel) which comes with Twonky 6.0.39 that works perfectly with my Bravia TV KDL-NX810.

But when i try to use the updated version 7.2.7 that is available to download in the QPKG addons, my TV KDL-NX810 doesn't see anymore some of my TS files that were working with 6.0.39.

I can easily switch between both versions of Twonky to reproduce the problem at will!

The symptoms are that the particular TS file doesn't show anymore in the folder in 7.2.7 while some other TS files next to it are showing and playing fine. The same folder works perfectly in Twonky 6.0.39

The DLNA client of the KDL-NX810 shows a blue text icon under the file name to identify the type of file that is listed:
The both version working TS files are shown as "MPEG" while the not working on 7.2.7 but working on 6.0.39 TS one is shown as "AVC".

It seems that the file can be played on my TV without being transcoded by 6.0.39, because CPU of QNAP remain low and no process ffmpeg can be found.

If i use the PS3 as a DLNA client, the file appears as "MPEG2" and is transcoded.

I recorded this file with the QNAP DVB-T usb-Key on a french multiplex that happens to be HDTV.

# ffmpeg -i on that file says:

The Twonky logs doesn't seems to says anything regarding the reason why the file is refused by the TV with Twonky 7.2.7.

Since it was working like a charm in 6.0.39, i assume it is some profile issue for my TV.
I could stick with 6.0.39 but i would eventually be forced to upgrade when that version will be removed from the QNAP firmware so that's not a long term solution.
If you needs some extra informations, or debug logs of both versions to understand the problem, feel free to ask.

I hope that i haven't missed a thread with the same problem, i am digging that subjet since 5 hours and didn't found anything that is working. What makes 6.0.39 display that file and play it is a mistery!

I just completely re-installed my server under opensuse 13.1. I had twonky running on my old server - that one constantly being upgraded up to opensuse 12.3.
Now the new installation of twonky does not accept my license key anymore, It keeps telling me that my trial period has expired.
Starting twonky from the command-line gives the message "key in use". How can I solve this?

Hi,
I have 3 questions:

1. Is it possible to stop the automatic thumbnail creation from movies?
(I think the thumbnails are created when entering a folder)

2. Is it possible that thumbnails are created when when a movie is played?

ANY tips on how the thumbnail creation works and can be modified would help me
maybe make a solution myself.

3. Is there any option to "mark" the last played movie?

Greetings

How to add Search to Twonky Server 7.0.x and 7.1.x

I've suggested the idea before

Twonky Server 7 Special needs to have search like myTwonky.com
http://community.twonky.com/twonky/to...

I finally took the time to see what I could do to add this feature myself

This is what the myTwonky search looks like

This is what I have added to the Twonky Server Web Interface looks like

If you enter your search criteria and click on search

The results of current media type would be returned, in this case video

Where can I download this feature?
Go to the following link and download "Twonky 7.0.9 Special Search.zip"

Custom Settings Interface Twonky Search
http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic....

How do I install this feature?

1.
Make backup copies of index.htm and config.js in the webconfig folder

2.
Copy the index, htm and config,js from the zip into the webconfig folder

3.
No need to restart twonky server, just open a browser and there it will be
If you already have a page open to twonky server, just refresh the page

Enjoy!
