WD MyCloud/TwonkyServer loos SetUp Infomation when ethernet-cable cut-off

Twonky Server Version: 7.2.6-2E

Hi,

every evening i switch-off the e-power of my whole technical equipment (TV,radio,PC...). But not the NAS. It run's over 24 hours-normaly like a server. With my cut-off also the router has shut-down. And so the ethernet connection to the MyCloud was down.

I think now the NAS must detected the loosing ethernet-connection and give still a sign. That's what the Server MyCloud really make. The LED ist blinking... by the way, i thing that's OK.

But the Twonky-Server every time, when i cut-off the e-power of peripherie, always loos the information Path of search, and index.... It not loos the Datafile.

So i expect, if the ethernet-cable was cut-off from the server, it never, never, never ...loose some infomation about his database.

help me please...what can i do?

Twonky on Thecus N2310 NAS - Manager or Server?

I am currently using the trial version of Twonky on a Thecus N2310 NAS. Assuming I find this a good solution:
1. If I buy a Twonky Manager license (instead of a Twonky Server license) will this work for my N2310 platform?
2. If a Twonky Manager license will work, does this enable me to run Twonky Manager on my Win7 Pro64 PC concurrently with Twonky on my Thecus N2310 NAS?

linux(gentoo) autostart issue

howdy. my twonkyserver (7.2.6-2 x64) on gentoo (3.13.1 x86_64) ain't starts automatic on system start, but finely starts manually by using /etc/init.d/twonkyserver start. what's wrong with it? how can start it on system start?

Convert serviio profile to twonky possible?

I've got a Zyxel NSA325V2 NAS with Twonky installed.
I'm trying to stream mkv's to a Telenet Yelo TV Digicorder.
However, there is no client profile for this device available, and I cannot get the device to work with the dlna profiles already in Twonky.

Streaming with Serviio from my pc to de digicorder on the other hand works flawlessly, with this profile:



Is it possible in some way to convert this to a Twonky-profile, and apply this to my NAS installation?

My library is not there! I've reset all caches, cookies, scanned the server and reset everything. I have tried 4 different browsers and nothings working!! help!

Long videos not playing on roku2!

I have a mac, I'm trying to play a movie that is an hour and a half long from my laptop through twonky server. Smaller videos work but when i hit stream it seems to load on the screen and then it returns to the main menu of roku. Help!!

Un-install version 6 before installing 7 in a Linux server ?

Is it important or necessary to remove version 6 before installing version 7 ?
What is the name of the main package (or packages) to un-install ?

FYI:
In my case, it is installed in file server running the Linux OpenFiler NAS software.
It was originally installed in 3/2011 running:
./twonkymedia-i386-glibc-2.2.5-6.0.32.sh

NSA325 not detecting content

I've recently got my NSA325 but it doesn't seem to pick up any content. The boxes are checked in the NSA admin page and the content are stored in /video/Movies/(subfolders)

I'm running Twonky 7.2.6-1.

Any suggestions folks?

twonky server serial not working again!

My twonky server 7 serial number is not working anymore, It says my trial expired, but I have purchased a serial number/server already. I tried rebooting my WD Live and still nothing, it doesn't even respond like a serial number has been entered when I put it in it just reloads the settings pane. It had been working, I purchased my twonky server 7 months ago. This is not the first time something like this has happened, a few weeks ago it stopped working and said another instance of the server was running or something like that, I was able to reboot it and get that fixed and it was working fine again until it started saying now that it is expired. This is very frustrating, and I am very disappointed with the lack of response I get from the Twonky help center. I never heard back anything from anyone at Twonky when I emailed them a few weeks ago for assistance when I was having an issue and had to solve that on my own. At this point I definitely wouldn't recommend Twonky Server to anyone, and its a shame because it has potential for delivering media throughout my home if only I wasn't constantly having to tweak these settings.

TwonkyServer 7.2 (Linux) File Aggregation Issues

Hi there,
I have 2 different NAS servers and have TwonkyServer 7.2 (Linux) installed on one of them. After setting aggregation for the second server, I am unable to see the second server when setting my shares. Does Twonky have to be installed on both servers? What am I doing wrong.

How to install a second instance of Twonky Server on WD MyBook Live for Private Streaming

I have seen the topic come a few times on how to password protect a folder
so that parents can shield their children from inappropriate media

While Twonky Server does not have the ability at this point in time
to password protect or to limit folders or media items on a per client basis
it does have the ability to limit streaming as a whole on a per client basis

We can leverage this ability by running a second instance of Twonky Server
for the sole purpose of streaming restricted media on a per client basis
The primary instance will still run as normal for unrestricted media streaming

The following example is going to show you how to install a second instance
that is password protected from http access
and is configured for a Private folder share
and is configured on a per client basis

Twonky with Panasonic mp4 stops playing after some seconds

My Panasonic Viera starts playing mp4 files from Twonky but stops after some seconds (differs 18 seconds - 38 seconds).

I was running version 6.x now 7.x. Problems still the same.

The Client Profile is recognized correctly.

Do I have to do a quirk? Is there a list of all quirks?

How do I stop Twonky from accepting DirecTV Whole-home uPnP solicits without subnetting or using ACLs?

Because this keeps happening immediately after deleting the clients:

I've tried shutting down the port that the bridge adapter for DirecTV solicits its uPnP on. I also tried putting the bridge in the second half of a subnet, that didn't work, it seems to get through even if all receivers and it are subnetted and masked properly (I guess that's because it's a uPnP allowing that to happen?)

I'm running this from a WD MyBook Live, 3TB NAS drive. I don't know if it's the contents of the description.xml causing the runaway client additions but here that is:


I would appreciate any help at all. This issue has been keeping my WD from sleeping unless I disable the Twonky MS on it, which defeats my purpose for having it. Thank you.

The old sort problem

The old sort problem is: In the view "By Folder" the music files where sorted by title, not by track number.

This problem I had solved in Twonky Server 6.01 under Windows.

Now I have a second Twonky Server in NAS Iomega IX2-200 (6.0.34).
Here is it not possible to change the file view-definitions.xml, because the file system is read only.

Has anyone an idea?

Panasonic TC-P55UT50 sort items by title and not date client profile tweak

We recently purchased a Panasonic TC-P55UT50
It is currenlty running the latest firmware which is 1.230

This tv was NOT purchased for its dlna capabilities in any way
those abilities were just a bonus, price and picture quality were the criteria
But you know me, I had to see what it would and would not do with Twonky

One of the things I noticed was that the dlna client was honoring only some sorting

It would honor the container sorting criteria presented by twonky
meaning that the list of containers were shown in the order I wanted

It would honor the item order when viewing a playlist
meaning that the order in wich I have my items in a WPL are honored

It would NOT honor a default sort order of items in a container
meaning that the default sort order is alphanumeric
and the Panasonic TC-P55UT50 was sorting by date oldest to newest

NOTE:
The Panasonic TC-P55UT50 does NOT have any options to change sorting
so we are forced to do that at the server,
and are relying on the Panasonic TC-P55UT50 to honor what the server says
and not what the Panasonic TC-P55UT50 wants (which is by date)
luckily the following does allow for us to do that

If you edit the Panasonic_VIERA.xml
and add the following Quirk, save the file, restart the server
The Panasonic TC-P55UT50 will now honor sort orders
that are presented to it from Twonky Server

Twonky for ASUSTOR

Good day,

I recently bought an ASUSTOR NAS and wanted to get Twonky for it. Didn't find it and created a APKG package for it.

Now: Am I allowed to submit that package to ASUSTOR? Or since I will release the packaging part on github PacketVideo could create it themself.

Generate video thumbnails during scanning process rather than on the fly

Create thumbnails for videos (mp4, MTS, mov, m4v etc) during the scanning process rather than on the fly. This will make the first time listing folders much quicker. At the moment with hundreds of folders with 10 to 30 video files in each one (home videos from video camera) it is terribly slow to wait for the thumbnails to be generated as you list the files.
